David Theak
David Theak was the first musician to receive a Master of Music (jazz performance) from the University of Sydney. As a performer David has led his group theak-tet on tours of Australia and Europe including performances at many of Germany and Scandinavia's world class jazz venues. He has been featured on dozens of Australian albums including Steve Hunter’s Nine Lives released nationally through ABC records, theak-tet's Yellow Glasses (1999) and Gamla Stan (2003 Jazzhead).

Gerard Masters graduated from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 2000 and is now one of Sydney’s foremost jazz pianists and composers.
He currently fronts his own jazz trio The Gerard Masters Trio and maintains a busy schedule as a member of several other leading Sydney ensembles: Lily Dior Quartet, E.O.N., Ends and Means, Masters/Derrick Duo, The Good Guys.

Matt McMahon
Matt McMahon is a Sydney based pianist and composer who has been active on the Sydney scene since 1993.
Matt was classically trained before he pursued an interest in jazz in his late teens. He studied music as part of a Bachelor of Arts degree at Sydney University and completed an Associate Diploma in Jazz Studies from the NSW Conservatorium in 1994. Since then he has played professionally in a wide variety of contexts.

James was born in Adelaide, South Australia in 1974 to musical parents. He became interested in music at an early age and began playing the guitar at the age of 12. Initially inspired by rock music of the sixties and seventies his love of jazz took over at the age of 16. Two years later James was gigging in the working band of renowned clarinetist/saxophonist Andrew Firth with whom he stayed until 1994.

Brett Hirst
Brett Hirst completed his Diploma of jazz studies at the Christchurch School of Jazz with a double major in Performance and Arranging & Composition. Brett's success culminated in his receiving a scholarship to the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. During his time in New Zealand Brett was invited to perform with several American artists of international renown such as Mark Levine, Harvey Weinapel, Gordon Brisker and Bruce Paulson.
