Neilsen is widely regarded as Australia's finest male jazz vocalist and equally, one of its finest jazz trumpet players.

He has been performing professionally for 20 years, since the age of 14, and has worked as a featured artist with many of the finest musicians in the country including James Morrison, Tommy Tycho, Tommy Immanuel, Rhonda Burchmore, Ricky May, Anthony Warlow, Don Burrows, John Morrison, Monica Trapaga, Ignatious Jones, Andrew Firth, Paul Grabowsky and Dale Barlow.

Neilsen is a graduate of the NSW Conservatorium of Music in Jazz Studies where he studied under the guidance of jazz legend Don Burrows.

Neilsen has performed for crowds of more than 7000 people at the Domain, at the Sydney Opera House, twilight concerts at Taronga Zoo, at numerous festivals and jazz clubs in both Australia and internationally, and many high profile corporate gigs.

Some of Neilsen's corporate clients include - BMW, Aramis, David Jones, American Express, Country Road, Victor Chang Charity Ball, Clayton Utz Law firm, Stadium Australia, Bledisloe Cup, State of Origin, Spring Racing Carnival.

He is regularly asked to perform the Australian National Anthem for some of the biggest sporting events including Test and One Day Cricket Finals and International Soccer matches.

Neilsen performs with his own 5 piece band “The Cocktail Hour” featuring the classic hits of Frank Sinatra, Harry Connick Jr, Michael Buble and Dean Martin, as well as many other great jazz standards.

His other ensemble, Neilsen Gough & The Swingin' 7, features all the same fabulous songs plus a 4 piece horn section creating a bigger more powerful sound – that of the classic Big Band.
